Nautical Instruments- 4 (Four) U.S. Navy Telescopic Alidades: makers include Ajax Engineering, Chicago, the U.S. Navel Gun Factory, Washington, DC, Spencer Lens Co., Buffalo, New York, and Photogrammetric Instruments, Pasadena, CA. Models include a Mark I-4 (1939), a Mark II-3 (1941), a Mark II-1 (1941), and a Mark 4-0 (1944): All come in fitted wood boxes with brass hardware.
CONDITION:
The telescopic alidade is for use on a compass, gyro-compass repeater, or pelorus stand to take bearings on distant objects when greater accuracy is required compared to a standard azimuth circle or bearing circle. The cases and instruments show wear commensurate with age and use. Parts may be missing. Dimensions are for wood case.
